Let's be honest, we hate to be judged. We also hate to be watched. So here, at ardha moon yoga, you don't have to worry about either of those things. Here- we hope you will let your guard down and just breathe. Honest.
Let me give you my background. I have worked in a law enforcement capacity since 1998. I spent a year in dispatch before being sponsored to attend the Police Academy by the Lansing Police Department. I worked the road until April of 2014 and have found my place in the Investigations Division since then.
Yoga found me in 2009 and after being certified, I opened the studio in 2013. I have tried multiple times to get a first responders only class on the schedule, but it hasn't been easy. A friend recently re-lit a fire under my backside to try again. Finding the time and space for the class is simple-getting you here is the difficult part.
I am all about honesty and you are obviously doing your research. Yoga is tough, but in a different way. Sure, it can be physically challenging, but that's not the hard part. Being willing to let go of control and expectation is the challenge. Taking a breath and being still in your own body is what is actually difficult. Letting go of "crap" that you don't need or was never yours to carry-can make anyone uncomfortable and it will.
You landed on this site for a reason. Doesn't matter what that reason was...do yourself a favor and take a chance.
There are many styles of yoga. This class will touch on those styles which may lead you into other classes. This class will be scheduled at different times each week in hopes to make it possible for you to come, regardless of your shift or schedule. First responders will be the only people in the room so you can truly let your guard down.
I will also be adding a "Five-O Fam" and "Five-O Partner" class to the schedule periodically. ( More often if there is a need.) These classes will give you the opportunity to invite those who have your back at home to take a class with you.
I look forward to sharing the gift of yoga with you-
